Epworth Primary Academy

Epworth Primary Academy began life as Epworth County Primary School, which opened on its current site in 1982 in the historic town of Epworth on the Isle of Axholme.. There has been a primary school in the village since 1711.  In 2012, the school academised and shortly afterwards, in 2013, joined Isle Education Trust.  The academy has the capacity to take approximately 340 pupils from age 3 (in nursery) to age 11.

Principal's Welcome

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Epworth Primary Academy. We are incredibly proud of our school community and hope that the information on our website gives you a real insight into life at Epworth and the values that make our academy such a special place to learn and grow.

At Epworth Primary Academy, every child is known, valued and celebrated as an individual. We believe that every child has unique talents, strengths and aspirations, and our role is to nurture, challenge and inspire them to achieve their very best. We are committed to ensuring that all children flourish academically, socially and emotionally, developing the confidence, resilience and curiosity they need to succeed both now and in the future.

We aim to create a happy, secure and inclusive environment where children feel safe, respected and ready to learn. High-quality teaching, a rich curriculum and meaningful learning experiences enable our pupils to develop a love of learning and the confidence to take risks, embrace challenges and learn from mistakes. We want every child to leave us fully prepared for the next stage of their educational journey, with no ceiling placed on their ambitions or potential.

Our dedicated and skilled staff work tirelessly to ensure that learning is engaging, purposeful and enjoyable. Alongside academic excellence, we place great importance on developing well-rounded individuals with strong values, aspirations of their own and a desire to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.

We have high expectations for all our children and encourage them to engage fully in every opportunity available to them. Whether through sport, music, drama, residential experiences, leadership roles or wider enrichment activities, we believe these opportunities help children discover new passions, build character and develop lifelong skills.

At Epworth, we know that children thrive in an orderly, safe and supportive environment. Respect, kindness and responsibility underpin all that we do. We encourage our pupils to respect themselves, each other and the world around them, while developing understanding, tolerance and appreciation of different perspectives and experiences.

Success is built on strong partnerships. As part of the Isle Education Trust, we benefit from collaboration, shared expertise and a collective commitment to providing the very best education for every child.

We recognise that parents and carers are children's first educators, and we greatly value the relationships we build with families. By working together, we can ensure that every child receives the encouragement, support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Ultimately, Epworth Primary Academy is a place where excellence and care are inseparable; where children are challenged to achieve their very best and supported every step of the way to get there. We do not simply aim for good outcomes, but for a life-changing education

that equips children with the knowledge, character and confidence to shape their own futures.

Above all, we want every child to know:

"You belong here. You can achieve here. Your future starts here."

We look forward to welcoming you and working together as part of the Epworth Primary Academy family.
