Welcome to this term's newsletter. At the end of this Spring term, it is lovely to be starting to see lighter mornings and longer days and a sense that warmer days are not too far away.
It has been an unsettled period nationally with strikes and disruptions in many sectors, including some teaching unions. We thank staff and parents alike for their understanding and support throughout this period, making what could have been a tricky term less so. We will continue to navigate our way through the ongoing unrest next term, always putting the wellbeing, learning and health and safety of students and staff at the centre of our decision making as far as is possible.
Despite these challenges, there have been some truly fantastic learning experiences on offer for students across the trust, supporting the academic and wider development of our young people. I have been amazed at the impressive culinary skills of pupils at Epworth Primary, the sporting achievements of South Axholme students (including the recently formed equestrian team) and a variety of careers related guests and visits at Coritani to name but a few, and all alongside the “normal” learning that takes place. It really has been a busy and varied term.
As we approach Easter, I wish you a good break with lots of chocolate and hopefully lots of sunshine too!

What a term. It has flown by, with so much having happened. It really does feel like we are back to being a primary school again. So much has happened and is planned to happen as we move forward into the summer term and beyond. The children remain amazing as ever and continue to put a 100% into everything that they do.
During the term we have seen a number of changes across the academy regarding staffing. We said a temporary goodbye to Miss Edgar who has gone on adoption leave and will return during the next academic year. Mrs Ward has returned just as we said a very early goodbye to Miss Parkin who gave birth 11 weeks earlier than expected to her daughter. Mrs Hodson has taken over the role of SENDCo across the academy, with the support of Mr Flowitt.
The children have been on a range of trips with more planned for the summer term. These are linked to their class topics as well as the Epworth offer and broadening their experiences. These will continue throughout the year with a range of opportunities planned moving forward addressing both academic and extracurricular experiences. We have residential's in the summer term as well as trips to farms, zoos and international sporting events to name a few.
As we move into the summer term the pace doesn’t stop with SATs, Sports day and term activities. We will also be looking to apply for the Caring to Learn Award and Beginning our journey to renew our Health Schools award. For the Health schools award one of the first areas we will be looking at across the academy is snacks, with more information coming out to you regarding this soon.
We are also again looking for parent volunteers in the academy. If you are interested in volunteering please pop into the office and ask for a volunteer form to complete, and we can begin your DBS checks.
Finally, I would like to thank all our staff. They continue to work tirelessly to support your children going over and above every day. They are a pleasure to work with and as an academy we are very lucky to have each and every one of them.
Enjoy your Easter Holidays

During Spring term we had visitors in school to speak to all the children about their jobs and careers. We heard from people that work in: Engineering, Pathology, Criminal Defence, Nursing, Local Council, Farming, Manufacturing, The DFE, The Probation Service and Safeguarding.
The children were brilliant and asked lots of very good questions to our visitors. We would like to thank all of our visitors for their time - they made a difference.

Year 5 had an amazing morning up at Epworth Rectory. The children made bird feeders and had a tour of the gardens, searching for wildlife. They were also asked to make bug hotels which turned out to be a huge team effort. We were also lucky enough to see a newborn lamb that was seconds old! The old rectory has lots of events on over Easter and also for Earth Day. Well worth a visit.

Nut Allergy (Please read this very important information)
We have a number of children in school who have a very severe nut allergy (Peanuts/hazelnuts/almond). As the allergy is from ingestion and touch we have enforced a total ban of all nuts in school.
Your child is not at any risk whatsoever from this situation. However, the health and wellbeing of our pupil who is at risk, does depend on your co-operation nuts i.e. Chocolate spread, cakes, biscuits etc.
Thank you for your co-operation in this very serious matter.
